I stay at the student accommodation across the river (near the new Deakin buildings). there is just not enough lighting and if we go back late at night, it's WAYYY too dark! i end up having to walk one big round from deakin to hungry jacks then head home. more lamps everywhere, please!

I think there needs to be safe well lit zones with 'security phones' around campus specially in carparks, also lighting in the carpark on the Waterfront campus is appaulling!! what are the fees for those Red Zone permits paying for? Obviously it cost extra to be safe...

Of course you should feel safe on campus!!
#8 Nanna Sultani (Hawthorn East, Australia)
We should all be able to walk around campus after hours and not be afraid. We have the services, why not start using them?

What Cayla said. It is important that every student feels safe in an environment they spend so much time in!

Everyone deserves to feel safe and be secure at their place of work or study. Good lighting, and knowing where to go for help can make a real difference!

I want to know why it costs extra to buy a parking permit in an area that has lighting

We should all feel safe when on campus, at all hours of the day!, this needs a number of things including better lighting, it gets rather unsafe with that :S

I love the idea of a keyring, sticker, perhaps a mini led torch?, anything with the security number on it. U never know when/if u're going to need it. I'm new to Deakin so I don't know if this is available but other uni's sell personal alarms with the security number on a sticker on the back of it. I've never needed it but I sure felt safer having it.

Now daylight savings is over campus gets dark fast. Emergency numbers for all students - and the idea of sercurity phones - would be great.

Carpark Security Cameras would be good! I came back from class one day to find someone had driven into the back of my parked car. No details were left :(
